On May 29, 1970, he was united in marriage to Sherry Lynette Pierce, and to this union, one daughter was born. He is survived by his daughter, Mallory Carl-Mummert of Eldridge, Missouri, sister, Tanya Shaumeyer of Sedalia, Missouri; nephew, Steven Allison of Sedalia, Missouri; niece, Mackenzie Shaumeyer of Sedalia, Missouri and many other relatives and friends. On December 17, 1981, she was united in marriage to her surviving husband, David L. Chase.
